[Article] [COVID-19] Chinese-style containment vs Korean-style quarantine… Necessity to wait a little longer to see which one is the most effective

While Chinese’s authoritarian model and South Korea’s civic participation model are often compared in the process of containing the new coronavirus outbreak, experts point out the necessity of waiting a little longer to see which system works best.
In other words, it is still too early to judge which one has the most effective quarantine between authoritarian governments such as China and Israel, and citizen’s voluntary participation in democratic countries such as South Korea, Taiwan, and Singapore.
In addition, it has been argued that an institutional overhaul would be necessary to prevent the recurrence of various human rights violations that occurred during the domestic coronavirus quarantine process.
In South Korea, there have been several cases in which more than necessary information such as age, gender, and occupation were disclosed when releasing the movements of confirmed cases of COVID-19. (…).
