On August 13, 2021, Korea University’s Institute of Peace and Democracy held the 11th Soodang Security Colloquium.
Dong Sun Lee, a professor of PSIR at Korea University, and Alexandrova, a senior researcher at Korea University’s Peace & Democracy Institute, participated as presenters, and Woo Sun Choi, a professor of the Korea National Diplomatic Academy participated as debaters.
At Colloquium, Professor Lee and Dr. Alexandrova announced their draft <Building Unified Korea’s Military Power>. Unification of the two Koreas will have a positive impact on regional security by eliminating the security dilemma of the two Koreas and resolving the North Korean nuclear issue, but even after reunification, there will be a possibility of confrontation between the U.S., China, Russia, and Japan. In the end, Korea’s security strategy will be important even after reunification, and at the same time, the geopolitical changes that will take place after unification will require Korea to have a military force different from that of the divided era.
