비교권위주의 연구센터(Center for the Study of Comparative Authoritarianism)는 현대 권위주의 정치의 다양한 형태와 작동 메커니즘을 비교정치학적 시각에서 체계적으로 분석하기 위해 설립되었습니다. 본 센터는 권위주의 체제의 형성·유지·붕괴를 규율하는 정치적 메커니즘에 대한 이론적 탐구와 경험적 분석을 수행하여 권위주의 연구의 학문적 심화에 기여하는 것을 목표로 합니다
주요 연구 주제는 다음과 같습니다.
1. 권위주의 정권의 민군관계 및 군부 독재
- 쿠데타 발생의 결정 요인
- 군부 독재와 군부의 정치적 역할
- 엘리트 숙청 및 군부 통제 전략
- 이전 군부 통치 경험이 민주주의 생존 및 공고화에 미치는 장기적 영향
2. 선거권위주의
- 선거권위주의의 작동 메커니즘: 선거 조작, 야권 관리, 후원 정치
- 반체제 저항과 선거권위주의의 붕괴 경로
