AI와 민주주의 센터(Center for AI and Democracy)는 인공지능 기술이 민주주의 제도와 과정에 미치는 영향에 대한 연구를 진행하고 있습니다. 기존의 기술 중심적, 규범적 논의를 넘어서 경험적이고 체계적인 연구를 바
탕으로 AI 시대 민주주의의 변화와 적응에 대한 정교한 이론화를 추구하며, 국내 AI-민주주의 연구의 활성화에 기여하고자 합니다. 본 연구센터는 경험적 자료를 바탕으로 AI 기술이
민주적 의사결정, 정치참여, 그리고 대의제도에 미치는 영향을 분석하며, 이를 통해 AI 시대 민주주의 거버넌스의 이론화 작업에 매진하고자 합니다.
주요 연구 주제는 다음과 같습니다.
1. AI는 민주적 의사결정과 정치참여를 어떻게 변화시키는가?
AI 기반 정보환경이 시민들의 정치적 판단, 여론 형성, 그리고 선거 과정에 미치는 영향에 대한 체계적 분석. 알고리즘에 의한 정보 필터링과 생성형 AI의 확산이 민주적 숙의와 참여의 질에 어떠한 변화를 가져오는지를 경험적으로 고찰함.
2. AI 기술은 대의민주주의 제도를 어떻게 재편하는가?
입법, 행정, 사법 등 민주주의 핵심 제도에서의 AI 도입이 정책결정의 투명성, 책임성, 그리고 대표성에 미치는 영향에 대한 분석. AI를 활용한 정책 설계와 집행이 민주적 거버넌스의 원리와 어떻게 조화를 이룰 수 있는가 를 탐구함.
3. AI 시대에 민주주의를 어떻게 보호하고 강화할 것인가?
딥페이크, AI 생성 허위정보, 자동화된 여론조작 등 AI가 초래하는 민주주의적 위협에 대한 객관적 진단과 함께, 이에 대응하기 위한 제도적·규범적 방안의 비교분석. 주요 민주주의 국가들의 AI 규제와 거버넌스 사례를 비교함으로써 한국적 맥락에 적합한 대응 모델을 모색함
